Tour Pacific is a bicycle tour developed by Cycle Canada, The Veloforce Corporation that travels through some of the most diverse terrains on the continent - from ocean coast to cattle country to high mountains. Scenery ranges from dense coastal forest to rugged rock canyons to alpine meadows. This scenic route offers breathtaking views of mountains and glaciers. On this tour we travel along the world famous Icefields Parkway.

Cycle Canada's Tour Pacific is a supported tour and accommodation is mainly camping.

Cyclists travel through regions where flora and fauna are protected. Services in sensitive areas can be minimal. We stay in no-service campgrounds on one or two nights, on other nights there will be hot showers and power. It is one of our more challenging tours.

We limit the number of riders on this trip to 24. We don't want you to get lost in a crowd and and we do want to eliminate line-ups at conveniences such as showers where we stay overnight. For the camping option we also include a number of indoor stays in cities where there are lots of off-bike tourist attractions.

Tour Pacific Profile, Alan Medcalf

Leaving Vancouver, we're on the north side of the Fraser River Valley until we reach the Coast Mountains. Our pass through this range is the Fraser River Canyon. Past Hell's Gate, we reach the junction of the Fraser and Thompson Rivers. Then we follow the Nicola River to Kamloops. You will pass by big ranches where cowboys still do the roundups on horseback. Our first day off is in Kamloops. Kamloops is the regional centre for Cariboo district of British Columbia and a town with all the modern amenities.

We'll visit Jasper, an historic townsite in the Rockies where we'll have a day off to explore Jasper National Park. From Jasper we will follow the Athabasca and Sunwapta Rivers - we're on the world renowned Icefields Parkway where we view the the Columbia Icefields a 325 square kilometre field of ice and snow that overflows into 8 spectacular glaciers.

At the Icefields we cross into Banff National Park and make our way to the Saskatchewan River Crossing, or The Crossing. We'll ride through the Mistaya River valley to the highest point of the Parkway which is the Bow Summit at 2056 metres. We stay in Lake Louise and Moraine Lake, 15 km south has excellent hiking trails. Then it's along the Bow River to Banff and down through the foothills to Calgary.
