SOCR marks the start of the summer cycling season.
SOCR is an out and back century ride from Toronto to Barrie. Each riding day there is a choice of rides between 100 km and 100 miles.
Kick start your cycling season at the Southern Ontario Century Ride (SOCR), a classic cycling weekend held annually in May. SOCR has become a get-together of the cycling clans, attracting clubs and riders from Ontario, Quebec and U.S. border states.
Cycle Canada's May event was first held in the spring of 1988 as a training weekend for the first Tour du Canada ride. Tour du Canada members receive a discount! The weekend is a retreat to a quiet country setting and an opportunity for cyclists to socialize. The terrain on both routes is not difficult. Over the years, the age range of those riding with us on the May weekend has been 8 to 80 plus.
The ride from Toronto, leaves from either York University or Finch Subway station both on the northern edge of the greater Toronto region. You'll travel along quiet rural roads and through small villages to our overnight stay in Barrie situated on Kempenfelt Bay on Lake Simcoe.
